How To Add Social Media Icons + Free Icons_01

Today is another techie post, where I share with you how to do simple tweaks to help you guys make some changes easily ( well for those who might not know) I know when I started out blogging I had no clue on what I was doing.

Social media is probably one of the most important things to add to your blog – I just hate it when I visit a blog and would love to follow them but their just aren’t any social media icons for me to be able to follow them. I can’t stress enough how important social media icons are, it allows people to follow you and how you can grow your community. This is not as complicated as you might think so let me show you the steps for you to add personalized icons to your blog.

Step 1:

Upload the icons you want to use to an image hosting website. I always use Photobucket for this.

Step 2 :

Blogger: Go to “Layout”. Click “Add a Gadget” and add an HTML gadget to the sidebar.

Copy and paste the following code into the widget:

WordPress: Go to Appearance > Widgets. Drag and drop a Text widget into your sidebar.

Step 3:

<a href=”link URL here” target=”_blank”><img src=”image URL here.png” width=”50px” height=”50px” /></a>

Replace “link URL here” with the link to your social media account (eg. Facebook, Twitter etc), and “image URL here.png” with the direct URL of the image. Adjust the width and height as necessary to fit into your layout.

Step 4:

Repeat step 3 for each additional icon you wish to add to the widget, changing the link and image URL each time.

Step 5:

Click save, and viola you are done.
