I’m back with yet another Essence Cosmetics review! Ah, you guys know how much I love Essence and many of you ladies have expressed to me in previous reviews that you don’t have this brand available to you in other parts of the world which really is sad. Essence is one of those brands that has hits and misses, not every product works for everyone – bit they have been a brand that has always impressed me time and time again.
For today’s review I’m talking all about their All About Matt Oil-Free Makeup, a foundation that offers a light to medium coverage. Essence discribes this product to leave your complexion with a matt effect, making it smooth and silky. The long lasting formula is said to lasts up to 12 hours and the oil free texture to not block any pores. This foundation comes in 5 different shades, I reviewed the shade in matt cameo from the Essence products team.
I do like a good compact packaging the plastic tube that looks matt makes it easy to control the product and makes it easier to carry around with me. The texture I would describe as a creamy and liquidy – which does make it easier to buff into the skin. Sadly I found that the shade was one shade to light for me from squeezing out the product though you wouldn’t think that, but as soon as I started buffing the product into my skin I definitely noticed it getting lighter which was strange for me, making it not really colour accurate. Blending the product was a dream I preferred using a wet makeup sponge then a brush to apply this product, I would definitely say that this is a light to medium coverage that is buildable. For someone which dry skin like me though, this foundation doesn’t really suit me, because of the mattifying effect my skin does look dehydrated, so I foundation for a dewy look is what I’m after . Also the claim that Essence made with it lasting up to 12 hours is a bit of an exaggeration, I managed to get a good 8 to 9 hours with my Essence translucent powder which I used to set my foundation with. It does last a full work day, but definately 12 hours.
If you looking for a light weight mattifying foundation for this Summer then this would be a good option for you guys who are on a budget costing at only R79. 99 you can’t go wrong.
