Cut Throat World Of Beauty Blogging

styledstockphotography-15-810x540

I have been blogging for about 3 years now, which honestly I had no idea how much I would actually enjoy it.  Whilst blogging for quite some time now I have also noticed a lot of bad and good and the fact that beauty blogging industry is far different then other countries,  bloggers over here are a lot more competitive and honestly I don’t get why.

Blogging community is suppose to be a safe place, a haven if you will for others who enjoy and have a passion for the same things we do. I really do enjoy having to write about my thoughts on everything wether it’s my favourite beauty products or to share my experiences travelling to different places or my views on certain subjects.  Yes,  I have been able to be in contact with so many beautiful ladies even make friends so blogging isn’t all that bad right? With all the good blogging community is sadly not all sunshine and rainbows as you might think,  there has been more incidents with bloggers being attacked by other bloggers making it competitive which is rather stupid if you ask me.  Why are other women bringing down others shouldn’t we be motivating each other? Instead we are degrading others which is down right unacceptable for what? So that you can get some pr packages… Well sadly, then you definitely are in this industry for the wrong reason. It passes me off so much that people pole are always critizing everything from the way you write, pictures you take and things you talk about on your damn blog.

Wake up people, blogging is suppose to be a passion, a love of what you do not to please anyone or to score anything.  Luckily I have not come across anyone who has been mean to me or told me off but I have been noticing this with other South African beauty blogger specifically and honestly it’s so uncall for and stupid, why not focusing on your own shit then critize what others do its their blog after all. Anyway rant over!

  • Love this post! It’s so so important to support each other and give positive thoughts but unfortunately there are the minority of people who ruin it for everyone else x

The beauty blogging world can be a little tough but you just have to keep your chin up high and carry on producing the amazing content you do 🙂 We blog for our awesome readers and not for the b*tchy blogger trying to bring you down! So on that note, don’t let it get you down xxx

Love this post lady! It’s such a wonderful community to be a part of but I completely agree that sometimes it can be really judgmental and catty! Sometimes it’s good to surround yourself with like minded/positive people and just do you, because you’re killing it girl!

    • I agree! I am just so lucky I have never come it across myself and have met such beautiful women

  • Exactly right! No need for pettiness and drama – women should be supporting and encouraging each other. At the end of the day, most people start blogging with the desire to share experiences and help others. Why spoil it for others?

  • Totally agree! Why the blogging world can be so catty is beyond me! I don’t know where the competitiveness comes from because everyone has their own idea of success, it’s not like we’re fighting for one top spot! Lovely post.

    • Exactly!! I agree love, aren’t we all blogging because we love it not to bring down others we are women who should be supporting eacother the world is a tough place as it is.

  • I guess I’m lucky in the sense that I haven’t seen any drama or felt criticized by other bloggers. But I do understand that everyone has a little bit of jealousy within them, so it’s easy to see how some beauty bloggers may get upset and catty over others for their sponsorship & pr samples. Unfortunately, to some people that means that they’re successful.

But in reality, having a strong community of friendship is why many of us really started blogging. It’s a shame to see it turn into a drama-zone.

    • I toatlly agree with you Lindsey, I feel that jealousy shouldn’t be a reason to break down someone else you never know what problems that person is currently dealing with.

  • I’m the same as you and haven’t really had any negativity thrown my way – thank goodness! I agree though that the way some people behave online is ridiculous. I think we should def support each other and if we have something nice to say then say it. If we don’t have anything nice to say then it’s better to keep quiet. Xx

    • Thank you so much Keri, I really appreciate it and I agree we should be supporting eachother

  • All the blogging communities are the same. Just like the real world. Nothing is always sunshine and happiness. There’s always people that try to bring others down!

    XoXo,

    Tamara – LoveofMode.com

    • Which is really digusting Tamara, we all just doing what we enjoy

  • Totally agree! There’s way to much drama in the blogging community and not enough support.
    Love your blog X0X0

    • That’s so true Hayley, it’s just so unnessary to be honest

  • Wish you all the best dear) xx

  • I definitely agree with you here! Although I’ve not experienced any negativity I think there are a lot of people that are into blogging for all the wrong reasons, and when people are here for the wrong reasons I think it can bread negativity. I think just remaining true to yourself is the key!

  • I haven’t noticed any of that, that’s such a shame, I feel like we’re all at a time where if people have something negative to say they feel almost self-righteous in shouting their opinion. I don’t mind criticism, but there is a nice way to say it you know. Hope things improve xxx

I think some people blog for the wrong reasons, you should write a blog you love and that you’re passionate about!

  • I definitely know what you’re talking about. I was close with a blogger, but found out all she cared about was what I could send her. When it came to talking about a problem I had (truly being a friend), she completely ignored the issue. I unfollowed her (never said anything to her), and then she has the nerve to drag about me on Twitter. But get this! Posted all the gifts I gave her on instagram, talking about how lovely they are (but didn’t mention my name). HaHaHa I had to laugh.

  • I haven’t had any nasty mean girl bloggers, thank God. But I do understand where you’re coming from about blogging being competitive. I love blogging and writing, and I have been at it for 2 years, but it does get a bit discouraging when I haven’t worked with many brands compared to those who have started their blog a lot later than I did, and yet they have twice the following.
