{Review} Silicon Sponge

I have been noticing a trend in the beauty blogging world, where beauty bloggers are using a silicon sponge to apply their foundation. Ever since I saw a few videos and photos all over my social media , I thought it would be really cool to try it out myself. At a whim I purchased one from Ebay for dirt cheap!

The silicon sponge was something I knew right off the bat would just never work, how are you able to apply your foundation flawlessly with a silicon sponge? was the thoughts that ran through my head.  I still gave it a shot and oh man, I am so happy I made the decision to actually purchase it from Ebay. It did take about 2 months to arrive, if you have purchased anything from Ebay before then you ladies would know that that’s something you need to take into account when buying from them.

Anyway, about the silicon sponge, it feels really awesome in the hand. I dabbed on my foundation, just be warned to use less foundation then you normally would, also I do suggest you add dots of foundation all over your face – you will literally need to spear it all over your face and not dab it like you would with a beauty blender or makeup sponge. I was amazed at how evenly and easy it distributed all the foundation, it just glided all over my face… A little product does go a long way, I did find that I needed to dab the product in once my face was covered with the foundation , as it left streaks of foundation. Other then that I am super pleased with the result I would actually go out of a limb and say it’s been working better then my makeup sponge I have been using the coverage just looks flawless!

I would definitely say that this would be a great buy well at least for me personally I thought it did a great job.

Even though i’ve heard mixed reviews on the silicon sponge I still want to try it. Even with the negatives i find that i could find great use for this. Apart from it sounding like it would be great for blending out cream contour and cream blush – for foundation it definitely sounds like something i could use to apply my foundation with and then if i am not crazy about how it blends I can go over it with a brush or beauty blender. I like the idea of initially using this to apply foundation because makeup brushes and the beauty blender absorb a lot of product so i use more pumps. This sounds like i could avoid wasteage. Great review!

  • These sound really great especially as they seem to waste a lot less product! A shame you had to wait two months for it to arrive.

I did the same, quite like my ebay one too! I do sometimes need to do a bit of beauty blender etc. to finish it off but I love how I can use it with my cushion foundation to stop wastage as the powder puff it comes with absorbs so much product. xoxo Sarah from Iheartcosmetics x
