When it comes to makeup primers, I haven’t really tried many brands. Primer’s aren’t usually a makeup staple for me as I find makeup day creams do a good enough job in priming my face. With that being said, there are currently two brands of my Favourite Primers that I keep going back to and that are super affordable.
You guys know how much I love budget makeup and my primers are no exception – I also haven’t tried many other brands if I have, to be honest, I just don’t justify spending hundreds on rands on a makeup item I hardly wear.
Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser
This is a lightweight primer that smoothes and creates a powerless looking skin. This is actually my second time repurchasing the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser. If you not a fan of silicon based primers, then this primer is probably not for you. I personally really like silicon-based products, I find they work well with my dehydrated skin. It also does it Maybelline claims, it smooths pores and enhances makeup application. It has been named a dupe for the widely known Benefit Porefessional, but I haven’t tried that so can’t vouch for that statement.
Catrice Cosmetics Prime And Fine Beautifying Primer
I actually reviewed the Catrice Cosmetics Prime And Fine Beautifying Primer on my blog before (read here). This one is quite different it has a pink looking formula and runner compared to the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser primer. Catrice says that it’s a soft focus effect, long lasting and a natural illuminating primer. This stuff is the bomb, again if you have dry skin this is a welcomed addition – it’s illuminating, which I find super cool. I am definitely after that natural glow makeup look and this helps me achieve that, I even find myself applying this beautifying primer when I am not planning on wearing any makeup, because of the glow!
These are the two current favourite primers I have been rotating there are a few more brands I really want to try soon, but I don’t want to purchase more makeup that I don’t need. I am however always looking for recommendations, so if you guys know of any primers I should look into then just let me know in the comments section below.
